From September 11 to 30, 2023, HAVU organized a training course for 50 project idea carriers,
including 30 internally displaced persons from the Anglophone crisis in the North-West and
South-West regions. During the 20 days of training, the aim was to equip these idea carriers,
who will be joined by 20 other young people from the University of Dschang, with practical
skills so that by the evening of September 30, these 50 young compatriots will be true
entrepreneurs. The activities were centered on 7 modules tailored to effectively equip the
beneficiaries selected from 1,400 applications with the practical skills and know-how needed
to make them true entrepreneurs.
The majority of projects are in the agricultural sector (layer rearing, fish farming, egg incubator
manufacture, small ruminant rearing, peanut and bean cultivation, white palm kernel oil
extraction, pesticide and fertilizer manufacture), in the service sector (creation of a translation
agency (English-French), professionalization of a haute couture workshop, creation of a modern
ice cream parlour using cow’s milk, shoe manufacturing, modernization of an office secretariat,
manufacture of household cleaning products, manufacture of liquid, powdered and lump soap,
creation of a digital communications agency, etc.).).
The training is structured around two main components: the social participation component,
which aims to strengthen social cohesion between target groups, and the economic component,
which is structured around practical measures to qualify labor-intensive income-generating
activities, and measures to promote entrepreneurship and employment, of which incubation is
just one facet. Incubation is the flagship activity of the economic participation component. A
few highlights from the training course
