OUR AREAS OF ACTION AND INTERVENTION METHODS
The HAVU association works to guarantee the right to education, health, drinking water,
sustainable sanitation and entrepreneurship
Everyone has the right to non-discrimination and equality in education. Despite the progress
made over the decades, vulnerable groups such as girls and women, refugees, migrants and
people with disabilities are more likely to suffer from educational inequalities and
discrimination.
Disability is an aspect of the human condition and an integral part of the human experience. It
results from the interaction between health problems such as dementia, blindness or spinal cord
injury, and a range of environmental and personal factors. Today, an estimated 1.3 billion
people – 16% of the world’s population – have a significant disability. This number is increasing
due to the rise in non-communicable diseases and longer life expectancy. People with
disabilities are a heterogeneous group, and factors such as sex, age, gender identity, sexual
orientation, religion, race, ethnicity and economic status influence their life experiences and
health needs. People with disabilities die earlier, have poorer health and are more limited in
their daily functioning than others.
80% of the world’s diseases are linked to the consumption of dirty, contaminated water
(diarrhea, cholera or typhus, among others). 844 million people have no access to drinking
water; this represents a very high health risk and a serious drawback to the development of a
healthy and dignified life for children and the most vulnerable. HAVU’s mission is to guarantee
access to water for human consumption for vulnerable and marginalized groups.
The most vulnerable people are the ones most affected by the obstacles to starting a business.
Existing support and orientation aids do not cover all their needs, and there are few support
mechanisms for professional projects and business start-ups. HAVU aims to promote the
sustainable inclusion of vulnerable people through entrepreneurial support in promising sectors.
HAVU helps in emergency situations. Aid is provided to populations affected by crises and
natural disasters (floods, bush fires, landslides, famine, epidemics, etc.).
HAVU acts through a number of activities to promote the participation and fundamental
rights of the most vulnerable people, so that they are no longer excluded from society.
